The 40FRIENDS children's home
We had a fantastic day at the 40FRIENDS children’s home yesterday. 40FRIENDS is the latest Lincs2Nepal project and it was great to finally meet everyone, begin to change more lives and put a plan together to move the home onward and upward.
The children and staff had been living off rice and potatoes for the last couple of weeks, so we went to the local market, got lots of fresh vegetables, lentils etc and everyone enjoyed an amazing dinner.
We enrolled one of the older boys on a one-year cooking course to give him the opportunity to make his dream of becoming a chef a reality.
We also presented two of the boys, who are brilliant artists, with an i-Pad and Procreate to give them the chance to become digital artists. Thank you, Tom, for that very generous donation.
I will be back in Kathmandu on Saturday and next up is a treat for the 16 children. They relied heavily in the past on donations of clothes from volunteers and visitors, but the pandemic put an end to that, so we will be going clothes shopping with them as they have literally one set of clothes each.
I have identified the work that needs doing on each building and we have an engineer / architect meeting us on Saturday free-of-charge to look at the best way to get this work done. We at least need to make the bedrooms waterproof, as the monsoon season is fast approaching.
